GSJ 2012 Team Definitions and Cost
Compare GSJ to any club and you will find that we offer more and cost less. We have a more experienced coaching staff and provide significantly more training opportunities than other clubs. Each season more GSJ players have earned college scholarships and college coaches are showing up at more and more practices.
To eliminate confusion and create the best environment to train and prepare our teams for 2012, we are asking for you to consider the team level at which you want to participate at prior to the season. We have adjusted our National Team pricing structure to reflect additional tournaments and the extended season. The coaching staff will have the final decisions on team placement. Team placement is by far the most difficult decisions the club makes. Regardless of team placement, GSJ will provide a great opportunity to our players.
For 2012 the National team program will be structured for athletes to get the most exposure to college level training and the highest level of tournament experience. For 2012 we’ve added two additional multi-day tournaments including the Big South Qualifier and will keep the same team together from November until June. Please read the National team requirements below. Players may opt out of consideration for a National team if they so choose by notifying the club in advance of tryouts.
Regional teams will continue to have the quality club experience that GSJ has always offered. Flexibility is given to each team to attend additional tournaments at their expense.
Payment Plans and Club Fees:
Multi child discount: A family who has more than one child in the program receives a $100 discount for each additional child. A family with 3 players in the program would be a $200 discount.

14U – 18U National Travel Team $1300 or
Payments: $300 Dec. 1st, $300 Jan. 1st, $250 Feb. 1st, $250 Mar. 1st, $250 April 1st

Fundraising and scholarships – GSJ wishes to provide anyone with the desire and commitment to play an opportunity to do so. We offer several ways to reduce or eliminate your club fees. We have work programs, sponsorships, and scholarship requests. If finances will keep you from playing, then you should fill out the scholarship request form (available by request). Forms will be reviewed by our board and granted based on the answers given. Only a limited number of scholarship opportunities are available and will be granted to the most deserving. Work programs are on an as needed basis and sponsorships are unlimited.

Team Placement
We understand the importance of team placement and make every attempt to get it right. We continually seek to gain knowledge of our players and make adjustments to our process so we can put players in a position that is right for them and their family. We understand that not everyone has the same goals and we try to allow for that. Placement is based on a variety of factors including player commitment, playing experience, past history, tryout evaluations, and coach’s assessments to name a few.

National Team – For a National Team, be sure you are willing to commit to the following expectations. Our National team structure will be designed to prepare you for the highest level of volleyball. Your commitment to this level will be matched by our commitment to you. Team selection will take place in November and the team will stay together until the AAU or USAV National Championships in Mid/late June.
Practice: 3 Days a week with additional skill/position/agility training. A 90% or better practice attendance is required. 100% Tournament attendance is required unless unforeseen circumstances occur or conflicts have been fully disclosed prior to the season start. A limited number of special practice arrangements can be made (practice with another team/different time) as long as the player maintains her level of commitment to volleyball. These will count towards the 90% requirement. These will be determined on a case-by-case basis with the coach.
Additional activities: National teams will be asked to do two public service projects during the season. Helping at events such as Miracle league or beach clean ups are examples. They are also required to help set up for our two volleyball tournaments.
Tournaments: National teams will attend 6 multi-day and 2 one-day tournaments. A list of tournaments selected is included. Additional tournaments may be entered at the team’s expense. For 2012 we’ve added two additional multi-day tournaments including the Big South Qualifier and will keep the same team together from November until June.
Cost: $1300 (payment plan available)
*Includes Nfinity head to toe uniform (jersey, shorts, shoes, backpack, kneepads, socks, and t-shirt) practice fees, coaching fees, USAV membership, equipment, and tournament entries. Does not include travel or AAU membership.

Regional Team – Regional teams will consist of players of a certain age or players not trying out for a National team or players not making a National Team. Team selection will take place in November and the season will end after the Palmetto Region Championships the end of March.
Practice: Two days a week with additional skill/position/agility training. An 80% or better practice attendance is expected. Tournament attendance is expected unless a three-week notice is given or unforeseen circumstance occurs. Any conflicts should be disclosed prior to the season start. A limited number of special practice arrangements can be made (practice with another team/different time) as long as player maintains her level of commitment to volleyball. These will be determined on a case-by-case basis with the coach.
Additional activities: Regional teams will be required to help set up for the Myrtle Beach Volleyball Classic and encouraged to do one public service event.
Tournaments: Regional teams will attend 2-multi day and 4 one-day tournaments (except for 12U). A list of tournaments selected is included. Additional tournaments may be entered at the team’s expense.
Cost: $625 (payment plan available)
* Includes Nfinity uniform (jersey, short, club t-shirt). Additional Nfinity items can be purchased at reduced cost. Practice fees, coaching fees, USAV membership, equipment, and tournament entries. Does not include travel.

Training / Local teams – We hope to expand our training program and provide more game play. Practice will be one day a week for 2 hours with 5 game days. Experienced players along with one of our coaches will conduct the training. The program is designed to help you understand the sport and prepare you for competitive volleyball. Season will start in early December and end the last week of March.
